MySpace

My son got me turned on to MySpace a year or so ago. As I have watched from inside the industry what is happening with this site (bandwidth, number of users, law suits and school suspensions) I have become more interested in it.

I joined the service a while ago to check it out, then found many of my so-called adult friends had accounts there. No only that, but I found a 3-Day Group out there!

Another circus, another town!

Today I registered for San Antonio Race for the Cure. What was really cool was that there was already a team set up for Rackspace! It reminds me of the years before and just after Sally passed when we would walk the Orange County walk with great co-workers from Exodus and fantastic volleyball friends from ASA! As my Boston-based friends like to say, Wicked Cool.

Speaking of which, it is less than five monts until my Boston 60 miler. Better get training Pig Man!

Deja Vu all over again

And so it begins. Well, actually it began earlier this year when I registered myself to walk in Boston and crew in Dallas, Phoenix and San Diego. Like you expected anything else.

What is really cool about 2006 is that I get to walk in the first event and crew at the closing event!

Yesterday, I did my first training walk. Really, it was more of a test. I have not worked out since I moved to Texas and have done no distance walking since last year's events. So, I strapped on the running shoes, plugged in the iPod NANO and started walking. Four miles plus a small shopping stop went smoothly. Tonight I will try the treadmill at the gym (I knew I was paying that membership for a reason) for another 4-5 miles. My goal right now is to play a little catch up and walk at least four days per week -- 5 miles each outing. I have some nasty hills up behind my new house and will brave them in a little while. Right now, flat track walking is all I hope for.

For the next few months, I will try to revisit this site and update you on my training. If, at any time, you feel compelled to support my efforts, you can
always click on the "Donate Here" link in the top right corner of this blog. If you have wealthy, caring friends, please send them this link: http://www.the3day.org/Boston06/motocrewmichael

Don't be shy, it is only a click away!

Oops, sorry :-(

It is possible that I may be a little late in getting this post on-line. Let's see, my last post was Oct 18, 2005 and I was heading back to Orange County to begin my ride to Phoenix for the final 3-Day event of the season -- the 2005 season, that is. Well, it is now March 2006 and I just wanted to let y'all know that I made it to OC! Then to Phoenix! Then back home to San Antonio!

Brief update -- the ride to Phoenix was without incident. The event went very well, especially the day before Day 1 when I met up with a lovely lady who I had met the prior year. Jackie, it turns out, remembered me, my bike and my pigs. This year, she was crewing with Gear and Tent and I got to spent a lot of time getting to know her better. That was a very good thing. ;-)

So, as you already surmized, the event went off without a hitch. I had an awesome time in 2005 and am already registered to crew the event in 2006 now that I know that a person in a key position in Crew has been changed.

To all of my fellow crew mates in Phoenix, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Y'all make the events worthwhile for the walkers and your team mates.
